Title I provides supplemental federal funding for schools with a high poverty level. The number of students that get free and/or reduced lunch is used to determine the poverty level. Title I funds are used in improving educational programs to help students meet the state standards.
There are two types of Title I schools, Targeted Assisted and School-wide. A School-wide program serves students in the most need academically while enhancing the whole educational program for overall school.
