LRSM Fifth Graders
Fifth-grade students from Lake Ridge New Tech Middle School recently joined with six hundred other students from Lake and Porter County Schools to take part in the Kids 4 Victory Youth Health Care Expo at Valparaiso University.

The goal of Victory 4 Kids is to introduce students to the Healthcare Industry at an early age in hopes of inspiring them to pursue careers in the growing field. Victory 4 Kids founder, Dr. Regina Beard, said the earlier students are exposed, the more likely they are to get excited about it. "We want to be proactive instead of reactive. We want them to have a vision, 'without a vision, people perish'. Why do so many kids want to be firefighters or police officers? Because when they were young, a firefighter or police officer visited their school and inspired them. We want to do the same thing, so we introduce them to Lab Techs, Ex-Ray Techs, Doctors, and Nurses at a young age to inspire them to pursue those careers."

LRMS Instructional Coach Kyle Stephens said students enjoyed the field trip. "They were excited about it. They had a lot of questions; it was good for them."
