LRMS Car Wash

Students, parents, and teachers took advantage of a warm July-in-October type of day on Saturday, October 4th, and had a lot of fun raising money for two good school causes as the Lake Ridge New Tech Middle School PTSA and the Lake Ridge New Tech Jackson Visual and Performing Arts program joined forces for a good old-fashioned car wash, (and a giant EMT Vehicle if you include the Lake Ridge Fire Department Fire Truck).

PTSA President and LRMS Head Nurse Miranda Lowden said working with the VPA was a great way to reintroduce both programs to the community. "We are trying to revamp the PTSA to get some involvement going with our parents, students, and teachers. Mr. Thompson has been wonderful about fundraising with the VPA, so we decided that for our first fundraiser, we would come together, and it has been great to see VPA students and Lake Ridge students all working together."
VPA Coordinator Donald Thompson agreed. "The car wash joint effort was an amazing success," he said. "Working with parents and the PTA was great. If we can continue these kinds of efforts, we will be able to promote and support all of the wonderful programs and events we have planned for students, schools, and the community. And I have to say it was a big surprise to have the Lake Ridge Fire Department Fire Engine pull up. Students got a kick out of that."
The Jackson Family VPA will use funds generated by the Car Wash to assist in its Winter production of "Scrooge in Jerusalem" and the Spring production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat". Both performances will take place in the Calumet New Tech High School's soon-to-be-opened, completely renovated auditorium.
The LRMS PTSA will use the funds to support future events and programs.
