middle school athletics update

Middle school sports seasons are filled with exciting accomplishments and achievements. This week, we have seen incredible performances by our Lake Ridge New Tech Middle School girls’ basketball team!

Girls’ Basketball

The 8th grade girls' basketball team showcased their skills on the court, securing victories against Hammond Eggers and Whiting Middle School. DW Willingham had two standout performances, scoring a team-high of 21 points against Hammond Eggers and an impressive 35 points against Whiting Middle School. Eunice Guardarrama achieved a double-double, with 10 points and 10 rebounds against Whiting Middle School.

With these wins, the 8th grade girls' team advances to an impressive 6-1 record for the season.

Meanwhile, the 7th grade girls’ team secured their first win of the season against Whiting Middle School. In a closely contested game, the victory was decided in the final seconds, with a score of 15-13. Aminah Weddington scored the winning bucket in the final moments of the contest.

On February 22, the two teams will be competing at home again, this time against Union Township Middle School in their Junior GSSC Conference Tournament opener at 5:00 p.m. These upcoming games promise to be intense battles as the teams vie for the opportunity to advance further in the tournament!

Wrestling

The middle school wrestling team was originally scheduled to take on Lake Station and Hanover Middle School on February 21, in a tri-dual at Lake Ridge New Tech Middle School. This meet has been canceled.

Let’s continue to show our support for our amazing young athletes as they strive for success this season!
